Company Release - 5/14/2009 1:53 PM ET

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- UDR, Inc. (NYSE: UDR), a leading multifamily real estate investment trust (REIT), announced today that its mobile Web site, http://udrapartments.mobi, was recently recognized as an Official Honoree by the 2009 Webby Awards. This international recognition is given to those Web sites that have demonstrated a high standard of design and technology excellence.

UDR, Inc. joins the company of other industry leaders who have been recognized with a Webby Award, such as Amazon.com, eBay, Yahoo!, iTunes, Google, FedEx, BBC News, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, NPR, Evite, Meetup, Wikipedia, and Flickr, among others. The official listing of UDR's recognition can be found via the following link in the mobile listings and updates category: http://tiny.cc/UDR.

"We developed the http://udrapartments.mobi Web site to offer mobile users a fast and easy way to find and reserve an apartment home while they're on the go," said Jerry Davis, Senior Vice President of Operations for UDR. "As a result of these and other initiatives, our mobile Web traffic has increased from approximately 30,000 mobile page views in 2008 to over 285,000 mobile page views forecasted in 2009, with mobile apartment searchers coming from 35 countries.

"We've also increased the percentage of apartment-home leases that originate over the Internet to over 56 percent year-to-date, compared to 46 percent during the same period in 2008," Davis added. "During the first quarter of 2009, our Internet-originated leases produced over $31 million in annual economic value. Our mobile applications enable us to significantly increase our marketing reach around the world at no incremental acquisition cost or sales cost to UDR."

Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet" by the "New York Times," the Webby Awards are the leading international awards honoring excellence on the Internet, including Web sites, interactive advertising, online film and video and mobile Web sites. The 13th Annual Webby Awards received entries from more than 60 countries and all 50 states, and of the nearly 10,000 entries submitted, fewer than 15 percent were distinguished as an Official Honoree.
